Expressing dissatisfaction over electricity supply situation, the caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazul-ur-Rehman on Thursday asked K-Electric not to carryout unannounced loadshedding in the metropolis. He issued these directives, pressing over a joint meeting of the KE and Sindh Energy Department at the CM House, here. Principal Secretary to the CM Sohail Rajput, KE Board chairman Tayyab Tareen, KE Director (External Affairs) Asmer Naeem, Special Secretary Energy Department Rashid Kazi and Energy Department's Director Tariq Shah attended the meeting.

The chief minister stressed on the need for uninterrupted power supply with no unannounced loads-shedding in the city. He said whatever the problems or issues the KE has, it must have to be taken care of.

Tayyab Tareen told the CM that power demand during peak hours of holy month of Ramazan reached by 3500MW while it was 3200 during the Ramzan of 2017. The CM was told that SSGC was providing 190 mmcfd gas to the KE; therefore, all its gas-based power plants were operating at their full capacity. It was also pointed out that overall seven hours load-shedding was resorted to in the city.

Caretaker chief minister said the process for general elections was going on in full swing. He said that the election staff was also mobilized; therefore necessary measures be taken to reduce load-shedding duration.
